Johannes Rau Center Minsk is a Belarusian-German joint enterprise, which was established by the International Association for Education and Exchange Dortmund and its Belarusian partners. IBB Dortmund specializes in programs of civic education and adult education. The underlying idea of the educational center is to overcome the boundaries not only between states but also in people's minds, and build bridges of understanding between different people and nations.
IBB Dortmund is certified with the quality mark «Continuing Education » of the State North Rhine - Westphalia. For more than 20 years IBB Dortmund has organized impressive trips, interesting exchange programs for students, intercultural trainings and international conferences. These programs are being developed and conducted in the following three special fields. Among the educational programs there are special offers for specific target groups such as young migrants, the disabled, the young, social workers, specialists on care for the elderly, doctors, etc.
One of the key thematic fields of the IBB Dortmund is projects provided in Belarus. IBB Dortmund is the founder of the International Centre for Education and Exchange Minsk and the History Workshop; it also realizes the support program for Belarus. In addition, IBB Dortmund regularly publishes the magazine «Belarus Perspektiven». International Association for Education and Exchange is a politically independent non-commercial organization of public utility.
Since 2007 IBB Dortmund has actively participated in realization of projects in Ukraine. Activities of the educational center are focused on the development of civil society in Ukraine, the establishment of a dialogue and exchange of experience between German and Ukrainian civil society initiatives.
Within the support program ewoca3, which contributes to the development of partnerships between youth initiatives in North Rhine-Westphalia and associations from Western and Eastern Europe, IBB Dortmund makes available for young people from the Ruhr region to participate in international summer camps. The program is supported by the Mercator Foundation in Essen.
